QUESTIONS
ABOUT THE PROCESS
AND WHAT’S POSSIBLE.
FAQS →
EVERY PROJECT IS DIFFERENT, BUT HERE ARE
SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED MOST OFTEN.
-
WLVES Digital Cinema is an Atlanta based film production company focused on authentic storytelling and cinematic craft. We create branded films, documentaries, commercial work and original stories, partnering with brands, organizations, artists and agencies from concept through final delivery.
-
WLVES produces a wide range of film and video work, including brand films, documentaries, commercials, music videos, website films, corporate event coverage, event recaps, interviews, social content, campaign films, culture films and original work. We can also support projects through cinematography, editing and post production. Storytelling is at the heart of how we approach the work, but the possibilities are much broader than any one format.
-
WLVES Digital Cinema is based in the Atlanta area and works throughout Georgia and beyond. Our home base is here, but the work is not limited by location.
-
Yes. We travel for the right projects and are available for productions throughout the U.S. and internationally. If the story takes us somewhere, we are open to going there.
-
Absolutely. We can lead the production from concept through delivery or collaborate with an existing agency, creative team or internal marketing department. The process is built to fit the project and the people already involved.
-
Every project is different, and we try to build around the budget you are working with whenever we can. If we understand your goals and what you are comfortable investing, we can shape the creative, production approach and deliverables around that number and develop something you will still feel great about. The goal is not to force every project into the same package. It is to figure out what is possible within your budget and make the strongest film we can with it.
-
That is completely fine. We can sit down with you for a free consultation, learn more about your business, understand your goals and pain points, and figure out what you are really looking for. From there, we can develop the right direction together and create something that feels useful now but is also built to remain relevant and effective long after it is delivered.
-
Absolutely. We love helping bring your vision to life. If you already have references, films, images or creative ideas that inspired the project, send them our way. They give us a great starting point for understanding the direction you are drawn to. And if you want to create something new or push into unfamiliar territory, we are happy to figure it out alongside you and build the concept together.
-
The earlier we can be involved, the better. More time gives us room to develop the creative, plan the production properly and make stronger decisions before the shoot. That said, we are very comfortable working on tight timelines. Depending on the scope, we have turned projects around from shoot to final delivery in as little as a couple of days. It is not always the ideal way to work, but when the deadline is real, we know how to move quickly without losing sight of the quality of the final film.
-
Timelines depend on the scope of the project, but we will establish the production and delivery schedule with you before work begins. Some projects can move from filming to final delivery in a matter of days, while larger productions may develop over several weeks. We build the timeline around what the project needs and any deadlines you are working toward.
-
Projects evolve. If something changes in the creative direction, schedule, deliverables or overall scope, we will talk through it with you before moving forward. Small adjustments are often simply part of the process. If a change requires significant additional production or post production work, we will explain what that means for the scope and cost so there are no surprises.
-
Most productions begin with about an hour to an hour and a half of setup before we start filming. By the time we arrive, we already have a shot list and a clear plan for the day, so the goal is to move efficiently and make the most of the time we have with you.
We do not charge by the hour because we want the focus to stay on the project, not the clock. You will know what the production costs before we show up, and from there our job is to keep the day organized, collaborative and moving toward the final film.
-
Yes. We build the production around what the project actually needs, which can include camera, lighting, audio, grip, additional crew and talent. If the concept calls for actors, voiceover, specialty talent or additional production support, we can help coordinate that as well.
Our crew network includes professionals with experience on major film and television productions, and through our partnership with Virtual Adrenaline Productions we also have access to AV teams and live sound support for events.
The goal is to keep the process simple for you. You should not have to piece together a dozen separate vendors just to make the project happen. We can bring the right people and resources together under one production.
-
Yes. Photography can be built into a film production when it makes sense for the project. This can be especially useful for campaigns, websites, events and social content where you need both motion and still imagery from the same production. We can plan the shoot around both so the visual language feels consistent across everything you receive.
-
We understand this is a major concern, especially for corporate clients and people who may be on camera for the first time. Our goal is always to make you look and feel your best. We have years of experience working with people who are not professional talent, and we know that comfort matters because your message should never get lost in an awkward camera moment.
We take the time to create a relaxed environment, guide you through the process and help the conversation feel natural. The more comfortable you feel, the more clearly your personality and message can come through on screen.
-
We do our best to work around the natural rhythm of your business. Whenever possible, we schedule our arrival and production during slower periods so we can get what we need without interrupting your team, customers or day to day operations.
We arrive with a plan, work efficiently and keep our footprint as contained as the production allows. And hey, having a camera crew on site never hurts how things look either. :)
-
Post production is where the footage becomes a film. This is where we shape the edit, build the pacing, refine the sound and give the image its final cinematic look through color grading.
Depending on the project, we can also create custom music, source properly licensed tracks, develop graphics packages, add titles, captions and sound design, and deliver everything as a polished final master. The music we use is cleared for the project, so you are not left worrying about unexpected licensing or royalty issues later.
We can also extend the life of the project beyond the main film. If you need social versions, shorter cutdowns or additional pieces built from the same production, we can plan for that from the beginning and maximize the amount of usable content created from the shoot.
-
As involved as you want to be. Our normal process is to share previews throughout the edit so you can see how the film is taking shape and make sure we are moving in the right direction. Those early versions can be very rough, but the more feedback we have along the way, the easier it is to arrive at a finished film everyone feels good about.
If you prefer to be more hands off, that works too. We also love the moment of surprising a client with the finished film, especially when the story has an emotional turn we want to protect. Part of what we do well is preserve the authenticity of the story, so whether you want to be closely involved or give us room to shape it, we can build the process around you.
-
Every project includes two revision rounds at no additional cost. We are human, and sometimes we may miss something or you may see something differently once the edit is in front of you. That is part of the process.
A revision round is one consolidated set of changes made before we send you the next version. After the two included rounds, additional revision rounds are $250 each.
You may occasionally receive a file labeled Version 4 or Version 5 even if you have only submitted one or two rounds of feedback. Do not worry. We make plenty of internal changes before anything reaches you, and those do not count against your included revisions.
This is also why we like keeping you involved throughout the edit. The more we understand before the final stages, the closer we can get to the finished film quickly.
If feedback requires a major change in creative direction, new deliverables or work outside the original scope, we will talk through that with you before moving forward.
-
Once your deliverables begin rolling out, we will send you a Google Drive link with a folder structure already organized for the project. If your production includes photography, those images are typically delivered first since they can usually be edited and turned around faster than the film. Additional deliverables are added as they are completed.
Every project includes at least three thumbnail options, with additional options sometimes included for longer projects.
For the film itself, you will receive a high quality archival master that preserves the project at its best quality and is ideal for long term storage or platforms like YouTube and Vimeo. We also provide a web friendly version for websites and other uses where a smaller file is more practical. Projects are delivered in 4K by default unless another resolution, such as 1080p, makes more sense for where the film will live.
Your project does not live permanently on Google Drive, so we always recommend downloading and safely storing your final files. But if something happens years later and a final file is accidentally lost or deleted, we retain access to the final delivered project files in our archive and can help get you another copy.
If your project includes social cutdowns, alternate aspect ratios, captioned versions or other deliverables, those will be organized alongside the main film during delivery.
