A PORTRAIT OF
AN ARTIST, HER WORK
AND THE LIGHT SHE
CREATES FOR OTHERS

Grounded in Your Light is an intimate portrait of Atlanta artist Lacey Longino as she brings her largest installation to life, revealing the vision, process and human connection behind 6,101 square feet of art.

Created by WLVES as a cinematic study of the artist and the work, the film captures not only what was made, but the story behind making it.

LACEY LONGINO

Lacey Longino is an Atlanta based mixed media painter and muralist whose work explores color, family, home and the ability of art to transform the spaces around us.

Known for combining vibrant patterns with portraiture, her work extends from paintings and gallery exhibitions to large scale murals and public installations. At the center of it all is a belief in the emotional power of color and its ability to create joy, spark conversation and reshape the way people experience a place.

Grounded in Your Light follows Lacey as that philosophy takes on its largest physical form yet.

Vibrant street art mural featuring orange and yellow flowers with green leaves against a multicolored, abstract background with splashes of pink and purple.

6,101 SQUARE
FEET AT THE UPTON

The Upton is a residential community in Atlanta’s Chosewood Park neighborhood along the Atlanta BeltLine, designed with art and creativity woven into the identity of the property. As the building took shape, Lacey transformed expanses of raw concrete with color, pattern and imagery, creating an installation that became part of the architecture itself.

Rather than artwork simply displayed within the space, her work was created for it, bringing warmth and identity to an unfinished environment and shaping the experience residents would eventually encounter every day.

CAPTURING WHAT LIVES
BENEATH THE SURFACE

From the beginning, Grounded in Your Light was built around one question: How does art create community? I wanted to look beyond the scale of what Lacey was creating and explore the people, relationships and ideas surrounding it. There was also a shared ambition behind the project. If Lacey was pushing herself to create something at this scale, I wanted the film to meet her there. That meant pushing into new territory for WLVES as well. It became our first film with an original score and our first with an original title track, created from the words of Lacey’s own poetry. I knew early on that I wanted the film to close with her spoken word, allowing everything we had observed to ultimately lead back to her perspective. Rather than tell the audience what the work meant, I wanted to leave them inside the mind of the person who created it.

SOLD OUT PREMIERE
AND LIVE PERFORMANCE

On March 8, 2026, WLVES brought Grounded in Your Light to Atlanta’s historic Tara Theatre for a sold out 154 seat premiere alongside work from fellow Atlanta filmmakers and friends. The evening featured Move and Ancestral Mirrors by Timberhouse Films and Crown the Peach by Auston Robinson in collaboration with Atlanta Run Club, followed by a live performance of the film’s title track and a Q&A with the filmmakers and artists behind the work.

BRINGING THE
SONG TO LIFE

The end credit song for Grounded in Your Light began with Lacey’s own words, transformed into an original track by Virtual Adrenaline Band. Now, WLVES is bringing the music to screen through Under the Canopy, a new film created with the band that carries the collaboration beyond the documentary and into something entirely its own.
